Old prision

Old prison of the party, inaugurated in 1779.  QUITAR Of neoclassical style and sturdy construction of stone ashlars (which still show the stonemason's marks), above its main door there is an inscription in honour of King Carlos III, founder of the municipality. General Rafael de Riego, captured in Arquillos on 15th September 1823, was imprisoned in the cellars of the basement. It ceased to be a prison at the end of the50 20th century, and was used as a telephone switchboard until 1997, when it was converted into municipal offices.
